A case of fraud against women of a neighbourhood surfaced in the Civil Lines police station area of Rewa district. It was alleged that a woman named Manju Singh, wife of Santosh Singh, gained the trust of dozens of women, got loans worth lakhs of rupees sanctioned in their names from various self-help groups and banks, and kept the entire amount herself. She had reportedly been absconding for about ten months. It also emerged that she was preparing to sell her properties, which put the victim women in even greater distress.<\/p>\n

Banks and group agents recovering dues<\/h3>\n

The victim women said Manju Singh had got loans taken in their names but had not given them a single rupee. Instead, banks and group agents went door to door to recover the money. Notices had been sent to many families. The women said that despite being innocent they were bearing the burden of repaying the debt, and their lives had become difficult.<\/p>\n

Attempt to sell house, women fear<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, it was also learned that attempts were being made to sell the properties registered in the name of Manju Singh, wife of Santosh Singh, including houses on khasra numbers 138\/9\/10 and 138\/9\/18. The women feared that if the property was sold, their lakhs of rupees would be lost and all their hard work would go to waste.<\/p>\n

Victims go to police station<\/h3>\n

The victim women went together to the Civil Lines police station, complained to the station in-charge and demanded strict action. They said the government and administration should intervene immediately and freeze Manju Singh\u2019s properties so that the money of the families cheated could be safe.<\/p>\n
