Farmers said paddy crops were being ruined for lack of urea. In the Mangawan assembly constituency, a rake of 4,000 (bags of) urea had arrived at the IFFCO e-bazaar fertiliser outlet, and fertiliser had also been sent to the Tikura and Gangev cooperative societies. Questions were raised about the distribution arrangements. SDM Sanjay Jain reached the IFFCO e-bazaar fertiliser warehouse with his team and reviewed the arrangements, but the warehouse manager’s negligence was clearly exposed. There was neither shade nor drinking water, and farmers were drenched in sweat under the harsh sun. It was also found that of 1,202 tokens, 1,000 had been distributed to farmers while 202 were held back. Each farmer was being given three sacks of urea. Fertiliser was distributed to 400 farmers, and 600 others were told they would get theirs the next day. Amid the chaos, distribution was ensured in the presence of police. Farmers from distant villages, including Rewa, Govindgarh, Semaria, Baikunthpur, Raghunathganj, Gangev, Chandeh, Misirgawan, Jarha, Parasi, Tendua, Garh, Katra, Lalgaon and Rimari, had gathered, creating a scene like the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Farmers said that if officials verified records before distributing, fertiliser could reach farmers easily. If the negligence continued, they said, influential farmers would collect tokens two or three times using photocopies of Aadhaar cards. Even after the second rake of urea arrived, the administration had not been able to resolve the problem. Officials claimed there was no fertiliser problem and that stocks were sufficient, so farmers asked why the shortage persisted.

Urea sold to farmers at arbitrary prices

Despite the administration’s claims of a tight system, traders were fleecing farmers by selling fertiliser at arbitrary prices, while the manager of the IFFCO e-bazaar outlet was allegedly charging farmers Rs 350 to 400 against the fixed rate of Rs 266. Asked about this, the manager said labour charges would be collected from the farmers themselves, as the government had no fund or rule for paying labourers. Farmers also complained to the SDM and tehsildar. It remained to be seen what action senior officials would take against the society manager and the IFFCO manager over the overcharging. Notably, people asked why 202 tokens were not issued to farmers and why they were kept hidden. It was widely discussed that this suggested tokens could be given to whoever brought high-level pressure.

MLA Narendra Prajapati made surprise inspection of distribution

Mangawan MLA Narendra Prajapati visited the societies and the IFFCO e-bazaar outlet for a surprise inspection of the distribution. He was angered to find no shade or drinking water inside or outside the warehouse and said care must be taken that farmers faced no trouble. Despite the MLA’s directions, the managers continued to show negligence, and the sale of fertiliser above the proper rate also came to light. The MLA clearly said fertiliser must be distributed only at the fixed rate. At that point, no improvement in the arrangements was visible, and under the poor system urea was being distributed arbitrarily.

Farmer Shrikant Gautam complained to MLA about arbitrary conduct

In front of MLA Narendra Prajapati, in the presence of the SDM and tehsildar, farmer Shrikant Gautam complained of negligence. He said urea was being distributed at more than the fixed rate and that when farmers objected, the manager threatened them. The MLA reportedly did not heed the farmer and instead began to scold Shrikant Gautam, after which, instead of calming down, a high-voltage drama began. The matter was settled after some people present intervened. While leaving, Shrikant Gautam said the Chief Minister was coming to Dev Talab and that he would complain to him, adding that the MLA could keep his fertiliser as the farmers did not want it. The disappointed farmer then left the warehouse. The question raised was that money was being collected from farmers at higher prices in the presence of administrative officials and no action was taken against the manager, which the area found surprising and widely discussed.

प्रदेश में यूरिया खाद के संकट को लेकर किसानों में काफी आक्रोश का माहौल देखा जा रहा है जगह-जगह धरना प्रदर्शन देखने को मिल रहा है;

[5

post-1135","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-rewa-news
["GET
