Kanger Valley National Park in Bastar has started its safari season 12 days ahead of the original schedule. The early opening follows guidance from Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap and is meant to make visits easier and boost tourism in the Bastar region.<\/p>\n
Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Uttam Gupta formally opened the season by issuing the first gypsy safari ticket.<\/p>\n
Visitors can see Kotamsar Cave, Kanger Dhara and Tirathgarh Waterfall. At Manjhipal, bamboo rafting and kayaking are available. The Eco-Development Committee has also arranged performances of the Dhurwa tribal dance at the Kotamsar barrier, which both showcases local culture and creates income for community members.<\/p>\n
The park's director, Gautam Narayan Padibhar, has ordered a complete ban on plastic inside the park. Tourists have been asked not to bring plastic bottles or polythene bags.<\/p>\n
Kanger Valley lies near Jagdalpur, the main town of Bastar, and is one of the best known natural attractions in southern Chhattisgarh. An earlier start gives local guides, drivers and homestay owners a longer season, and it comes as the state promotes Bastar as a safe and attractive destination.<\/p>\n
