It is identified as collar number 3, brought from the Kanha region and released in the area on September 9, 2025. Over time, as the animal grew, the collar tightened and left a wound, which made treatment urgent.

More than 80 forest and wildlife staff took part in the operation. Field Director Anupam Sahay was associated with the effort, the report says. After the animal was treated, it was taken to a monitoring area in the Kallwah range, where the team could keep watching its condition and movement.

Radio collars are used by forest departments to track the movement of elephants and to reduce conflict with villagers. They allow staff to warn farmers when a herd approaches, and to study the routes the animals prefer. The case shows the other side of the practice: a collar that was suitable at the time of fitting can cause injury if it is not checked and adjusted as the animal grows.

Elephants are relatively new residents of the Bandhavgarh landscape. Herds have moved into the region in recent years, which has led to crop damage and some tension with people living around the reserve. Monitoring of collared animals is part of how the department tries to manage that situation.

The coverage reviewed did not give details of the wound's severity or the animal's recovery timeline, and this article does not guess at them. Readers should treat further updates on the animal's health as pending until the reserve management shares an official statement.

Villagers living near the reserve are generally advised to avoid approaching elephants, to keep a distance at night, and to inform the nearest forest office when a herd is seen close to fields or habitation. The reserve staff have continued their patrols in the Kallwah range as the monitoring continues.

More than 80 staff took part in a rescue at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve to treat a wild elephant whose radio collar had tightened and caused a wound, and moved it to a monitoring area.

[4,440
327,580,563,581
post-1893","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-madhya-pradesh-news","category-umaria","tag-bandhavgarh","tag-elephant","tag-umaria","tag-wildlife
["GET
