Amid disaster management in Dharali, winning the trust of local residents had become a major challenge for the government and administration. The administration\u2019s first focus was to rescue people stranded from above Ganganani up to Gangotri and take them to safe places. The administration had followed this strategy since the first day of the rescue operation on 7 August. Meanwhile, the patience of people who lost their homes and loved ones in the disaster was wearing thin. They alleged that the government was paying more attention to outside travellers than to locals. Images of the Dharali disaster reached the country and the world within minutes via social media. The incident, near Gangotri Dham, one of the world-famous Char Dham shrines, drew everyone\u2019s attention. People from various states were stranded here. With the road closed, rescuing people by helicopter and bringing them down was the only option. So that the state\u2019s tourism and pilgrimage reputation would not suffer in the country and the world, the administration prioritised bringing down people stranded at various places above Ganganani. These included locals as well as travellers from other states.<\/p>\n

The Uttarakhand government would give financial assistance to the families of those killed in the natural disaster at Dharali in Uttarkashi. Those whose houses were completely damaged would also be given help. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made two announcements on Saturday.<\/p>\n

To help those affected by the Dharali disaster in Uttarkashi, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made two important announcements on Saturday afternoon. Under them, immediate assistance of Rs 5 lakh would be given for houses completely damaged in the disaster. Families of those who died in the disaster were also being given Rs 5 lakh. This would provide them immediate financial support.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister said a three-member committee had been formed for the rehabilitation, overall recovery and strengthening of sustainable livelihoods of the affected villagers. Headed by the Revenue Department secretary, the committee would submit its preliminary report to the government within a week. It would draw up a blueprint for a long-term and effective policy for the future of Dharali village so that the safety and livelihoods of the local community can be ensured.<\/p>\n
