The command of traffic management in Mauganj district had now been handed to Sanat Dwivedi. He was given the responsibility after the transfer of former in-charge Ambrish Sahu.<\/p>\n

However, Mr Dwivedi\u2019s name had earlier been caught up in controversy. It had been alleged that he gave protection at the police station to certain touts, which had landed him in a \u2018loop line\u2019 posting, yet the two sides were still unwilling to part ways. Now, as soon as he took charge, the same old faces, against whom allegations of extortion in the name of officials had long been made, were tirelessly praising his \u2018ability\u2019.<\/p>\n

According to reliable sources, on the evening of 6 August, between about 7 and 8 pm, a local so-called Congress leader of the district, against whom serious cases are registered at various police stations, had come to Mauganj police station to plead for one side in a case involving two parties. This was not a one-day matter; talk of brokering was common there, and it was said that such activities had been captured on CCTV cameras installed in the police station premises.<\/p>\n

Amid all this, the big question was whether Sanat Dwivedi would be able to rise above the old allegations and controversies and bring any positive change to Mauganj\u2019s traffic management.<\/p>\n

At that point, the public, the department and the administration were watching his tenure. But looking at past activities in police stations, it would have been premature to reach any conclusion then.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
