The Congress in Rewa district showed its strength on the issue of OBC reservation. Led by district president Engineer Rajendra Sharma and city president Ashok Patel ‘Jhabbu’, hundreds of workers gathered at Vivekanand Park. From there, Congress workers marched to the Collectorate shouting slogans and submitted a memorandum addressed to the governor to the Collector. Congress leaders said that matters related to OBC reservation in Madhya Pradesh had been pending for a long time, and the state government was not taking serious initiative in this direction. The memorandum demanded that the government immediately withdraw the disputed notification. Congress claimed that if this were done, about 90 per cent of the OBC community’s problems would be resolved automatically.

Congress warned the government

After submitting the memorandum, Congress leaders warned that if concrete steps on OBC reservation were not taken soon, the agitation would be intensified in the coming days. The Congress demonstration in Rewa made it clear that the OBC reservation issue was going to heat up further in the state’s politics in the coming days.
