Railway Board Opens 3,548 Graduate-Level NTPC Posts; Applications Run to November 6
Railway Recruitment Boards have invited applications for 3,548 graduate-level NTPC posts under CEN 06/2026. The online window closes on November 6, according to reports.

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have opened applications for graduate-level posts under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) scheme, with 3,548 vacancies listed under Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) 06/2026. According to reports by Pune Pulse and the exam-preparation website Testbook, the full notification came out on October 7, 2026, and online applications began the next day.
The vacancies are spread across four posts. Goods Train Manager accounts for the bulk with 2,750 posts, followed by Senior Clerk cum Typist with 371, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist with 300 and Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor with 127. Both outlets give the same figures, which add up to the 3,548 total.
Candidates can apply until 11:59 pm on November 6, 2026. The last date for paying the exam fee is November 8, and a correction window will run from November 9 to 18, the reports said. The reports describe the process as fully online, and Pune Pulse points readers to the Railway Recruitment Board websites, including rrbapply.gov.in, while advising them to verify everything against the official notification.
A bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university is required for all four posts. The age limit is 18 to 33 years as on January 1, 2027, with relaxations under the rules. Testbook lists the upper limits as 36 years for OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates and 38 years for SC and ST candidates. The Junior Accounts Assistant and Senior Clerk posts also require prescribed computer typing proficiency in English or Hindi, according to Testbook.
Testbook reports the application fee as Rs 500 for general and OBC candidates and Rs 250 for SC, ST, ex-servicemen, persons with disabilities, women, transgender candidates, minorities and economically backward classes, with a partial refund for those who appear in the first-stage computer-based test (CBT), after bank charges. Pune Pulse did not state the fee amounts, which readers should confirm from the official notice.
On pay, Pune Pulse reports an initial basic salary of Rs 35,400 a month (Pay Level 6) for Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor and Rs 29,200 (Pay Level 5) for the other three posts. Selection will involve a first-stage CBT, a second-stage CBT, document verification and a medical examination. Pune Pulse says a separate typing skill test has been dropped for the two typist posts, although it notes that selected candidates must show the required computer and typing skills after joining.
As the notification is recent and several dates are reported by aggregator sites rather than quoted directly from the board, applicants should treat the RRB notice as the final word on dates, fees and eligibility. Neither report gives the date of the first-stage CBT, so candidates should watch the boards' websites for the exam schedule and admit-card announcements.
