The Singrauli district Congress committee submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate in protest against the recent attack by unidentified assailants on Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari during his visit to Ratlam. On 1 September 2025, Singrauli Congress office-bearers gathered at the rest house in Majan and then marched on foot, raising slogans against the government, to the district magistrate’s office. When there was a delay in receiving the memorandum, a scuffle broke out between Congress workers and police personnel present, and the workers reached inside the gate. Seeing the situation, a competent officer promptly came to receive the memorandum.

City president Praveen Singh Chauhan said that sponsored attacks were being carried out repeatedly on the state president, which was not the mark of a healthy democracy. He said Jitu Patwari had been running a campaign against drugs and speaking out forcefully against the sale of illegal intoxicants, and that the repeated sponsored attacks on him were the result. He said the Mohan government’s law and order record was exposed by the fact that the government and administration were not the least bit serious about preventing this. If the state president of the main opposition party was not safe, the condition of the common people was clear, he said. Accusing the BJP of hypocrisy about respecting women, he said it failed to see that liquor shops operated on the city’s main roads, that girls had to pass the same roads to study and mothers to buy daily necessities, and that drunkards sat there, yet the government had no concern for this problem and only pretended to honour mothers; had it truly respected them, such shops would have been relocated long ago.

He said illegal intoxicants were being sold openly across the state and women’s homes were being ruined, but the government did not even take notice. When the state president raised his voice on these issues, attacks were carried out on him and false reports were filed, he alleged. The entire Congress family stood with Jitu Patwari, and if he was not given adequate security soon, the Congress would be compelled to hold a fierce protest. Among those mainly present at the submission of the memorandum were Ram Ashok Sharma, Rupesh Chandra Pandey, Gyanendra Singh, Renu Shah, Ashok Shah, Pushpraj Singh, Suresh Dubey, Anil Singh Chandel, KD Singh, Ashutosh Singh, Raghvendra Shrivastava, Lakhanlal Shah, Zulfiqar Ali, Sudama Kushwaha, Krishna Singh Parihar, Bhaskar Mishra, Lalit Singh, BK Shrivastava, BN Tripathi, Devpati Vaishya, Ajay Singh Chandel, Saurabh Singh Raghuvanshi, Kamal Singh, Rana Pratap Singh, Pappu Rai, Arvind Dubey, Abhijeet Dubey, Hari Kamal Vaishya, Santosh Soni, Anil Shah, Ramsagar Shah, Premsagar Mishra, Anil Vaishya, Used Hasan Siddiqui, Ramgopal Pal, Kes Chandra Yadav, Surendra Saket, Anil Verma, Yogendra Pandey, Ajit Pandey, Pappu Singh Parihar, Siyaram Rajak, Ramesh Kushwaha, Shankar Verma, Devendra Singh, Vinod Sharma, Akhilesh Shah, Gomati Kushwaha, Mohit Kushwaha, Anupam Pathak, Aman Singh, Vijay Dwivedi, Sahdev Kushwaha, Akhilesh Shah and Mohit Pandey, along with hundreds of Congress members.
