Jail Superintendent Rakesh Mehoriya was present as chief guest, along with all jail staff. The programme began with the sacred Om Shanti mantra, after which Brahma Kumari Purnima Behen and BK Mansi Behen explained the deep spiritual significance of Raksha Bandhan to the inmates and staff. They said the rakhi was not only a symbol of the love between brother and sister but a divine thread that inspired a resolve to protect the soul from bad habits, intoxication and negative thoughts.

On this occasion all the inmates present took a collective pledge to give up one vice each as a gift. They vowed to abandon habits such as intoxication, anger, laziness and envy and adopt true self-respect and virtues. Tying rakhis, the BK sisters conveyed the message that real protection was that which freed us from vices and connected us with the Supreme.

At the end of the programme, the jail superintendent praised the Brahma Kumaris organisation’s effort, saying such programmes instilled self-improvement and positive thinking in inmates. An oath to stay free of intoxication was administered after the programme.
