Dial 112 service launched statewide for faster response to crime and emergencies
Dial 112 replaced Dial 100 in Madhya Pradesh, and Rewa district received 34 new police vehicles fitted with wireless sets and GPS tracking.

Dial 112 replaced Dial 100 as the police assistance service in the state. On Independence Day, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav flagged off 112 vehicles for the entire state from Bhopal. In this connection, Rewa district also received 34 new police vehicles on Sunday, and a trial run was conducted.

Rewa got 34 modern police vehicles
The new vehicles received by Rewa included modern vehicles such as Scorpios and Boleros, specially prepared for policing needs. The vehicles were fitted with wireless sets, GPS tracking and other modern equipment so that police teams could reach the scene immediately.
Police officials said the response time would be much better than before. In any emergency, the public could get immediate help by calling Dial 112 under the new arrangement. Officials also believed that better resources in the vehicles would not only bring quick resolution of public problems but also make crime control and cracking down on criminals easier.
Rewa Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh said these vehicles would soon be seen on the roads in urban and rural areas of the district. He said, “We are fully confident that through these vehicles the police will be more active and prompt in helping the public.” This would strengthen security in Rewa district and people would feel safer, he said.
Until then, people had called Dial 100 for police help, but the service had been changed to Dial 112. Under it, emergency services such as police, fire brigade and ambulance were also linked together. Citizens would not need to remember separate numbers; dialling 112 alone would bring help.
