A guard was seriously injured after a ward boy, allegedly drunk, hit him with a stick at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital late Wednesday. The hospital superintendent ordered an inquiry.

A fight broke out late on Wednesday night at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa between an allegedly drunk ward boy and a security guard. The ward boy attacked the guard with a stick, leaving him seriously injured. On information, Amahiya police station and hospital outpost police reached the spot and somehow brought the situation under control.
The injured guard, Rajendra Prasad Tiwari, said his duty was in ICU No. 3. At that time, ward boy Saurabh Tripathi, allegedly drunk, began abusing him. When he tried to stop him, he hit him on the head with a stick.

Misbehaviour with women security staff
Women security staffer Neeta Shukla alleged that many ward boys posted at the hospital often came drunk and behaved improperly. She said complaints were made to the company management several times, but no action was taken. In Wednesday’s incident too, when the women guards were taking their injured colleague to the police station, the ward boys blocked the way and stood in front of the auto-rickshaw.
Also assaulted patients’ relatives
Injured guard Rajendra Tiwari said ward boys often assaulted patients’ attendants too. He said this had become their daily conduct and kept spoiling the hospital atmosphere.
Inquiry ordered
Hospital Superintendent Dr Rahul Mishra said an inquiry into the whole matter had been ordered. Disciplinary action would be taken against whoever was found guilty.
