Three people died in a road accident on National Highway 43 near Pali village panchayat in Anuppur district on October 15, according to a local report. The spot falls under the Phunga police post.

The three victims, a 56-year-old woman and two young men aged 22 and 21, were travelling on the same motorcycle. The woman died at the scene. One of the men died after being taken to the hospital at Phunga, and the other was given first aid at the Phunga Community Health Centre, referred to the district hospital and died there.

The cause of the accident is not yet confirmed. The report says a collision with an unidentified vehicle is suspected, though no such vehicle has been identified. Witnesses told reporters that the motorcycle went out of control and fell from a bridge beside the road. Police have not confirmed either account.

Phunga police post in-charge Sone Singh Parste said that a case of unnatural death has been registered and that the circumstances are being examined, including whether an unknown vehicle was involved. The report did not give the exact time of day beyond a mention of eleven o'clock.

National Highway 43 is a busy route through the district, carrying trucks as well as local traffic, and accidents involving two-wheelers are reported on it from time to time. Road safety officials commonly advise riders to avoid overloading motorcycles, to wear helmets and to keep to a safe speed near bridges and bends.

The families of the victims have been informed, and the bodies were handed over after the post-mortem examination. The police inquiry is continuing, and any identification of the vehicle or finding on the cause will be reported once it is confirmed by the authorities. Anyone with information about the accident can contact the Phunga police post or the Anuppur district police control room.
