Amarpatan acting CMO accused of ignoring High Court status quo order in land mutation case
Amarpatan’s acting CMO Sushma Mishra was accused of secretly mutating land despite a Madhya Pradesh High Court order to maintain status quo, in a case involving Sheikh Shaukat.

Defying a clear order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur, Amarpatan’s acting Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Sushma Mishra allegedly performed a “legal miracle” in a mutation case, which was not only a disregard of judicial process but a direct attack on the dignity of the judiciary.
The case concerned Sheikh Shaukat, a resident of Amarpatan, who had approached the High Court against an order in a land dispute. The court had clearly directed that “status quo be maintained until the hearing of the case”. But the CMO, allegedly acting under the “influence of greenery”, not only ignored this order but also secretly carried out the mutation of the land.
The big question: had even High Court orders become a joke for some officials?
According to sources, neither was the permission of the Satna Collector taken in the mutation process nor was the mandatory nature of the court order taken seriously, even though both the Collector and the municipal council were parties to the case.
Hint of contempt: the matter might resound as soon as the court reopened
