Bhopal ranked second in cleanliness; Kalchuri community felicitated Mayor Malti Rai
After Bhopal jumped from fifth to second place in Swachh Survekshan 2025, the Kalchuri community and other organisations honoured Mayor Malti Rai at a celebration on Sunday.

In Swachh Survekshan 2025, Bhopal made a remarkable leap across the country from fifth to second place, making history. The achievement was the direct result of the dedicated work of the municipal corporation, the awareness of Bhopal residents and, in particular, the continuous efforts of Mayor Malti Rai. On Sunday, the Kalchuri community and other social organisations held a grand felicitation ceremony for Mayor Malti Rai, attended enthusiastically by hundreds of community members.
Hailing her as a talented and hardworking daughter of the community, the Kalchuri community honoured Malti Rai with a shawl, coconut, garlands and a “Swachh Bhopal – Sundar Bhopal” memento. Drumbeats, slogans and showers of flowers made the atmosphere festive. Everyone distributed laddoos and congratulated each other, calling the achievement a matter of pride for all of Bhopal and the community.
Slogans such as “Sabki raay, Malti Rai” and “Bhopal number one banega” echoed through the ceremony. Community members danced to the beat of drums, turning the historic moment into a celebration.
Kalchuri Sena president Kaushal Rai said on the occasion
Our goal now is first place in the country. The community will unitedly run a cleanliness awareness campaign and make Bhopal number one.
Kalchuri Sena media in-charge and senior journalist Rajesh Rai called it an honour not just for an individual but for an idea and dedication. He said the event was proof of the community’s awareness and participation, from which the new generation would draw inspiration.
Accepting the honour, Mayor Malti Rai said
This honour is not mine but belongs to everyone who has adopted cleanliness. If we all come together, Bhopal will certainly become number one in the country next time.

Those present at the event included Kaushal Rai, Rajesh Rai, Veersingh Rai, Pramod Rai, Sanjay Chouksey, Kalpana Rai, Dr Sunil Rai, M.L. Rai, Shyam Jaiswal, Bhagwat Jaiswal, Sudhakar Raut, Sonu Rai, Kartik Malviya and Dali Malviya, along with a large number of community members.
