Pump failure at Rani Talab plant set to hit drinking water supply in Rewa
A faulty motor pump at Rewa’s Rani Talab plant was to be repaired on 23 August, leaving several water tanks only about half full and some areas short of water.

A deepening drinking water crisis was feared in several wards of the Rewa Municipal Corporation area. Among the tanks served by the Rani Talab water supply centre, the Dhobiya tank, Nipaniya, Uprahati and both tanks of Chirhula Housing Board were not to be adequately filled on the evening of 23 August and the morning of 24 August.

Municipal Corporation, Rewa
The Municipal Corporation said two motor pumps were installed at the Rani Talab plant for water supply, and one of them had developed a technical fault. It was to be repaired on 23 August 2025. During this time water supply would be possible with only one motor pump, so the tanks would fill only about halfway.
As a result, water supply to consumers connected to the affected tanks would be inadequate, and water would not reach areas far from the tanks in particular.
The Municipal Corporation appealed to consumers to store water in advance for daily use as a precaution.
