Police in Bhilai have seized about ₹4 crore in what they describe as unaccounted cash from a modified pickup van. The seizure was made late on Sunday night during a checking operation near Dabripara, under the Khursipar police station, and was reported on October 27.

The vehicle was a white, modified Bolero Max pickup, registration number CG 04 QU 5996. Police stopped it at around 11 pm after receiving specific information about a suspicious movement of cash. They believe the van was carrying the money from Raipur towards Nagpur.

The cash was hidden in a purpose-built chamber in the enclosed rear section of the vehicle, which had been altered for the purpose. Two men were in the van: the driver, Bhaveshbhai Jinabhai Dabhi, and Vishnudev Dubey. Both were taken into custody for questioning.

Police are now trying to establish the source and owner of the money, its intended purpose, and who modified the vehicle. The report on which this article is based ends while describing further legal action, so the outcome of the investigation has not been reported.

Large cash movements are normally examined by police along with income tax and enforcement agencies, which check whether the money can be accounted for with documents. Being taken into custody for questioning does not mean the two men have been found guilty of any offence, and they will have the chance to explain the source of the cash.

Further details, including whether other agencies have been informed and whether any case has been registered, are expected as the inquiry moves forward. Residents are advised to rely on official statements for updates.
