Deputy CM attended Krishna Janmotsav and Gau Katha at Basaman Mama cow sanctuary in Rewa
Deputy CM Rajendra Shukla said service to cows would bring welfare to humankind, at a Janmashtami event at the Basaman Mama Gauvansh Vanya Vihar in Rewa.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla said that only through cow service would humankind prosper, and that serving cows could avert crises facing humanity.

Deputy Chief Minister Shukla attended the Shri Krishna Janmotsav and Gau Katha programme at the Basaman Mama Gauvansh Vanya Vihar in Rewa. He said he had resolved to build large cattle sanctuaries to take cows roaming the roads and straying into fields to a safe place. By the grace of the cow, that resolve was being fulfilled, and at the Basaman Mama Gauvansh Vanya Vihar and Hinauti Gaudham, arrangements for water, shade and food had been made in a safe place so that, as long as they lived, the cows might live happily there and bless us all.
Shukla said cows were very dear to Lord Shri Krishna, whose childhood was spent among them. Eight thousand cattle were being cared for at the Basaman Mama Gauvansh Vanya Vihar. On that day, he said, Lord Krishna’s presence was felt most there. On Janmashtami, the Krishna Janmotsav and Gau Katha at the sanctuary awakened a feeling of boundless joy in the heart. Similar events would be held every year on Krishna Janmashtami. He said efforts would also be made to set up a research institute to promote natural farming, so that the Prime Minister’s resolve to use swadeshi goods could be fulfilled.
At the sanctuary, Shukla worshipped Lord Shri Krishna and the cows, fed them jaggery and fruit, and listened to the Gau Katha. He extended Janmashtami greetings to those present. Former MLA K P Tripathi, Municipal Corporation chairman Vyankatesh Pandey, kathavachaks Jitendra Maharaj and Abhayramji Maharaj, SDM P K Pandey, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Dr Rajesh Mishra and a large number of cow devotees were present.
