The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) has invited online applications for 7,500 posts of Constable (General Duty) in the state police, with the registration window having run from September 22 to October 6, 2026. According to reports by Careers360 and the English edition of Dainik Jagran, the recruitment is listed under Advertisement No. 583/2026 and covers posts under the Police Headquarters and the Home (Police) Department.

Of the 7,500 vacancies, 700 are in the Special Armed Force (SAF) and are open only to male candidates, while the remaining 6,800 are outside the SAF and open to both men and women, Careers360 reported. The board publishes the notice and rulebook on its official website, esb.mp.gov.in. Both reports describe the drive as a single combined recruitment for male and female candidates, with the SAF posts reserved for men.

On eligibility, Careers360 said candidates must be at least 18 years old. The upper age limit is reported as 33 for male candidates in the unreserved and economically weaker section categories and for applicants from other states, and 38 for women and for male SC, ST and OBC candidates from Madhya Pradesh, with further relaxations under the recruitment rules. The educational requirement is a Class 10 pass for unreserved, SC and OBC candidates, while Scheduled Tribe candidates need a Class 8 pass, according to the same report.

The selection process has four parts: a written test, a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), a Physical Measurement Test and document verification. The written paper is computer-based, carries 100 marks across 100 objective questions, lasts two hours and is available in Hindi and English. Careers360 reported that there is no negative marking. The paper is divided into general knowledge and reasoning (40 marks), intellectual ability and mental aptitude (30 marks), and science and simple arithmetic (30 marks).

The PET is scored out of 100, with 40 marks for an 800-metre run, 30 for the long jump and 30 for the shot put. Candidates must score at least 30 per cent to qualify, and the shot weighs 7.26 kg for men and 4 kg for women, the report said. The final merit list will be prepared from normalised written-test marks combined with PET marks, and shortlisted candidates will have to present original certificates at document verification.

Dainik Jagran reported that the last date for correcting submitted applications was October 11 and that the written examination is scheduled to begin on November 19, 2026. Neither report states the application fee, and both advise candidates to check the official notification. Dates in recruitment drives are sometimes revised by the board, so applicants should treat the board's own announcements as final. As the registration window has closed, those who applied are expected to watch the website for admit cards and exam-centre details.
