Rewa Municipal Corporation launched a major drive, on government instructions, to remove Samagra IDs that are inactive or registered at fake addresses. The campaign focused on Samagra IDs dating from 2013 that had been found inactive or registered at wrong addresses.

The municipal administration said the step had been taken so that the benefits of various government schemes would reach only eligible and genuine citizens. According to officials, a large number of fake and inactive IDs had remained active for years and were being used to wrongly obtain scheme benefits. Preparations were by then complete to crack down on them.

A social security officer said action to remove the Samagra IDs of citizens found inactive or registered at wrong addresses was proceeding rapidly. All citizens had also been urged to get the KYC of their Samagra ID done in time.

The officer warned that if KYC was not completed in time, citizens would face serious inconvenience not only in future but even at that time. It would directly affect schools, college admissions, employment, foodgrain distribution, pensions, the Sambal scheme, the Ladli Behna scheme and other government schemes. Even the facilities being received at that time could be stopped immediately.

The administration also clarified that citizens could get their Samagra ID KYC done at their nearest CSC centre, MP Online kiosk or the Swayam portal. The process was easy and did not take much time.
