Madhya Pradesh Police launched a public awareness campaign called “Nashe Se Doori Hai Zaroori” (staying away from drugs is essential) across the state for a drug-free society. Director General of Police Kailash Makwana inaugurated the state-level campaign from police headquarters in Bhopal. As part of it, Rewa police organised an awareness rally in the city on Monday.
The rally aimed to make citizens aware of the ill effects of drugs and to make a meaningful effort towards a drug-free society. A large number of police officers and personnel, school students, members of social organisations, sportspersons and local citizens took part.
Rewa Range Inspector General of Police Gaurav Rajput, Deputy Inspector General Rajesh Singh Chandel, Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Aarti Singh and the district sports officer, among other officials, were present. All gave a unified message against drugs and appealed to the public to stay away from drugs themselves and make others aware.

The rally gave the clear message that drugs were becoming a serious crisis not only for an individual’s health but for families and society. Rewa police said the awareness drive would not be a one-day affair but a continuing process, with outreach and publicity through various means.
The step by Rewa police was seen as a positive initiative towards making the district drug-free.
