Satna: EOW Registers Two Cases Against Former Cooperative Society Manager
The Economic Offences Wing has booked Surendra Pratap Singh Baghel, former in-charge manager of Amkui Service Cooperative Society, in cases of alleged disproportionate assets worth ₹92.16 lakh and fertiliser irregularities.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has registered two cases against Surendra Pratap Singh Baghel, the former in-charge manager of the Amkui Service Cooperative Society in Satna district.
The first case alleges disproportionate assets. Investigators say assets and expenditure of ₹92.16 lakh are about 426 percent above his known legal income. Baghel joined the society as a salesperson in 2006 and became in-charge manager in 2020. His recorded legal income from January 2007 to September 2025 was ₹17.51 lakh, while the agency counted ₹57.68 lakh in expenditure, ₹22.50 lakh in land documents and ₹11.97 lakh in gold jewellery.
Officials found six bank accounts, six insurance policies and records of several expensive vehicles, all of which are being examined. He allegedly built a 2,200-square-foot house in the Nagod area and spent lakhs on his son's education.
The second case concerns fertiliser. Investigators allege that he sold urea at ₹600 per quintal against the government rate of ₹593, and that 122 fictitious farmers were entered into the point-of-sale machine out of 194 registered farmers, to enable black marketing. Other alleged irregularities include tampered carbon copies of farmers' permits and receipts, inflated urea and DAP bag records, and forged stock registers used to manipulate loan adjustments.
Both cases have been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Corruption Act. These are allegations at the investigation stage, and the accused is entitled to present his side in court. Cooperative societies distribute subsidised fertiliser to farmers, so irregularities in their records can hit farmers directly during the sowing season.
