To improve bus services across the state, the government was about to launch the Chief Minister Sugam Parivahan Sewa Yojana, and its survey was to begin soon in Shahdol. The government would bring city and intercity bus services together, giving passengers safe and comfortable service. A company named Madhya Pradesh Passenger Transport and Infrastructure Limited had also been formed. Under the scheme, traffic surveys were being conducted in each region, on the basis of which new bus routes would be created and the number of buses decided. Surveys were complete in Ujjain and Indore and under way in Jabalpur and Sagar. Surveys were to begin soon in Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Rewa, Shahdol, Gwalior and Chambal. Private bus operators would also be included, linked to the system through contracts under government supervision. All buses would be new and run under the supervision of companies, so old buses would go out of service. The service was expected to curb the arbitrary conduct of private bus owners and let passengers travel in good-condition buses from cities to villages. Bus depots, modern bus stands and bus stops would be built in every district.

Construction of a new bus stand in Shahdol at a cost of Rs 4 crore had been approved. The municipality had identified land in Kotam village near the city to build the Shahdol bus terminal (new bus stand) at a cost of Rs 15 crore, and administrative approval had been received. Further processes were under way, and construction was likely to begin after the monsoon. A modern plan for the bus stand had been prepared through the efforts of municipal president Ghanshyamdas Jaiswal. MP Himadri Singh had provided Rs 4 crore for the municipality’s bus stand, and vice-president Praveen Sharma was working with the president to arrange the remaining funds. They claimed every effort would be made for the city’s development, with facilities expanding along with the city.
