The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved the creation of a government-owned company to develop the Jabalpur–Indore Economic Corridor, with ₹100 crore of initial capital from the state. The corridor will link Jabalpur, Bhopal and Indore and cover seven districts: Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Bhopal, Sehore, Dewas and Indore.

The first phase envisages three to five industrial hubs spread across 10,000 acres. The state is aiming for more than ₹1 lakh crore of investment by March 2028, along with about one lakh direct and over two lakh indirect jobs. Over the following three years the target rises to ₹3 lakh crore in investment and more than six lakh jobs.

The hubs are planned as plug-and-play sites with land, power, water, roads, sewerage and digital connectivity, along with housing, hospitals, schools, skill centres and green spaces. Priority sectors include manufacturing, defence, aerospace, logistics, food processing, IT and electronics.

The government has set a timeline: the company is to be formed within 30 days, GIS mapping and a land bank are to be ready within six months, and master plans and detailed project reports are due within a year. Government land will be used first. Where private land is needed, it will be acquired through consent or legal procedure, with compensation for affected people.

The same Cabinet meeting approved about ₹241 crore to improve school transport, with district collectors managing the operation and maintenance of buses, aimed at students in tribal, OBC and other areas.

For Jabalpur, long seen as a major city of the Mahakoshal region, the corridor could bring new industry, though the plans are at an early stage and depend on land, power and investor interest. The Chief Minister also commented on the power shortage, saying around 800 MW was being received from Gujarat and Sardar Sarovar and that supply was expected to improve within a day or two.
