Shahdol Police have opened cyber desks at all 14 police stations in the district, a report published on September 8, 2026, said. The initiative was started at the Budhar police station and inaugurated by Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjay Kumar Agrawal.

The aim is that victims of cyber fraud can get help at their nearest police station instead of travelling to the district headquarters. Quick reporting can help to block money taken in scams.

Complaints can be made about bank fraud, OTP scams, fake calls, suspicious links, social media account hacking, online fraud and other cyber crimes. Police say initial checks and technical steps can begin as soon as a complaint is received.

Residents of rural and remote areas are expected to benefit the most. The report says cyber crime cases are rising in Madhya Pradesh and in Shahdol.

The Superintendent of Police urged the public not to respond to unknown calls, messages or suspicious links and not to share OTPs, bank details or other confidential information. Victims are advised to report a fraud promptly at the nearest station rather than panic.

The first hours after a fraud are the most important for stopping the transfer of money, which is why the national cyber helpline 1930 and the cybercrime portal ask victims to report immediately. Local desks can also help people who are not comfortable with online forms. The police have not said how many staff are posted at each desk.

Cyber fraud cases are time-sensitive, because money can often be blocked only if the bank and the cyber cell are informed quickly. Citizens are advised to report a fraud at once on the national cyber helpline or portal and then visit the nearest cyber desk with their transaction details. They should never share OTPs or passwords with callers who claim to be from a bank.
