The Shahdol district administration began preparations on October 17 for Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav's proposed visit to the district on October 25. The event was planned at the Banganga Ground at the district headquarters.

Preparations include levelling the ground, setting up an exhibition, making arrangements for the distribution of benefits to beneficiaries and drawing up a list of proposed inaugurations and foundation-stone laying works. Repairs to the helipad and the routes from it to the programme site have started.

District Collector Parth Jaiswal issued directions and assigned duties to district-level officers of various departments. Those present at the review meeting included the Chief Executive Officer of the Zila Panchayat, Shivam Prajapati, South DFO Shraddha Pendre, Additional Collector Sarodhan Singh and SDM Amrita Garg.

The collector told officers that none of them may leave the district headquarters without permission until October 25, and that departments must complete their tasks early and within the deadlines. The report does not say how many people were expected to attend.

This article is based on the report from the preparation stage. It does not cover what was announced during the visit, and readers should look for official statements from the Chief Minister's office for the outcome.

Visits of this kind usually include announcements of projects and the transfer of scheme benefits to beneficiaries, and district administrations mobilise all departments for several days before them. Residents may have faced traffic restrictions around the venue on the day of the programme.

Orders restricting officers from leaving headquarters are common before a Chief Minister's visit, as arrangements for security, traffic, seating and public contact have to be in place on time. Residents near the venue may see diversions or restrictions on the day. The final programme will be announced by the administration closer to the visit.
